the story behind the rebrand and the introduction of our refillable vessel

UYINU began in late 2023 with a simple idea: that scent can change the feeling of a room.

inspired by the chinese philosophy of yin and yang – the balance of stillness and movement – the brand grew from a personal love of aromatherapy and candle making. at the time, yin yoga had become an important part of daily life, and the slower rhythm of those practices sparked a thought that would later shape UYINU: ritual aromatherapy, the yin way.

what began as a hobby quickly became something more meaningful.

early rituals

the first UYINU collections centred around the tranquility and rejuvenation yin & yang ritual sets – simple candles designed to soften the atmosphere and bring small moments of calm into everyday life.

in 2024, UYINU began to move beyond the home. the candles found their way into three local shops, including a luxury gift shop in loughborough, and soon travelled further afield to homes in morocco, dubai and beyond.

these early experiences helped shape the direction of the brand: candles not just as fragrance, but as ritual objects that shift the feeling of a space.

a pause in the rhythm

in may 2025, the pace of the brand softened as maternity leave began.

like many things rooted in yin philosophy, UYINU moved more slowly during this time. instead of pushing forward quickly, the pause became a moment to reflect on what the brand could become.

the result was a clearer vision – one centred around design, intention and longevity.

the UYINU rebrand

in 2026, UYINU returns with a more refined expression of the original idea.

the rebrand focuses on deeper intention in every part of the process: cleaner ingredients, more thoughtful design, and a stronger connection to the philosophy that first inspired the brand.

the aesthetic has evolved too – warmer textures, deeper shadows and a calmer visual language that reflects the atmosphere UYINU hopes to create.

introducing the refillable candle vessel

one of the most important changes is the introduction of the uyinu refillable candle vessel.

most candles are designed to be discarded once the wax has finished. the UYINU vessel was created with a different philosophy – one that aligns with yin principles of balance, care and longevity.

crafted to remain beyond a single burn, the vessel allows the wax insert to be replaced once finished. this refillable candle system reduces waste while turning the candle into a lasting object within the home.

rather than disposable fragrance, it becomes part of the space itself.
